THE HEART AND SOUL OF A FOUNDATION
Genre: Documentary
Duration: 36 minutes
Embark on the journey! Meet 5 prominent figures from the beginnings of the Canadian colony: Jérôme Le Royer of Dauversière, Jeanne Mance, Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, Jean-Jacques Olier and Marguerite Bourgeoys.
At the same time, experience a dive into the missionary and effervescent atmosphere of the 17th century.
A production of Périfmédia: Sylvie, Dolène and Martin, 3 Canadians, went to France in August 2016, in the footsteps of these men and women who came to found Ville-Marie (Montreal) in 1642. It was the discovery of exceptional people, and while grasping their personality and their motivations, they also discovered the city of Montreal itself, its unusual, avant-garde and inspiring foundation for our action in the world of today.
Martin Bisson, professor of French and multimedia, is the principal director of this documentary short film, combining history, art and contemplation.

"There are moments in life when time expands. There are also times when we remember the past, where we long for the future, for moments of salvation. Thus we pass through gates that transport us, from a given time to another. These passages are important because they ground our action in the present through the recall of the time of our founders, of the time of our own fundamental options, and those times thrust us forward, on the wings of hope."
