As part of its activities, Périfmédia organizes family days in order to create an atmosphere to favour the deepening of a chosen theme. Different teaching approaches are adapted to different age group. The location depends on the proposed activity but is generally located within a 150 km-radius from Montreal. Snowshoeing day and Music
Holidays always offer a good opportunity for a family get-together, over a good meal, sharing everyone's talents, singing, playing music, dancing… along with fun games adapted for the young and older. Delightful moments with the whole family. Why not enjoy the snow and go out for a snowshoe trek! The Mas St-Jean-Baptiste was the privileged host of this day which ended with a snack and a draw for surprise-gifts offered to each of the participating families.

FAMILY DAY

Domaine Saint-Joseph Pathway
We had the joy of inaugurating a brand new pathway in Domaine St-Joseph. After a picnic on the way, we walked the 5-km-long trail by alternating silence, reflections and friendly exchanges. In order to concretely mark our collaboration on the trail, we participated in a short cleaning session (branch collection).
A visit to the farm and to the honey house completed the program.
A beautiful day to remind us that every baptized person is a walker, a pilgrim.

Journey of the Magi
The star of the Magi still fascinates scientists and astronomers of our time. With sophisticated software, it is possible to reconstruct the sky as it appeared at any time in the past. Based on recent researches from Cambridge and Marseille Universities, Eric Plante and Eric-M. Beaulieu, amateur astronomers, retraced the existing sky at the time of Jesus' birth. They presented the latest plausible hypotheses consisting of a series of phenomena adding up to create a celestial choreography that could not escape the watchful eye of informed observers.
A snowshoe hike in the forest was on the program during the day as well as a multimedia presentation on THE STAR OF THE MAGI. All ended with a meditative period during which a small chest, containing a symbolic present, was given to everyone at the manger. The feast concluded with the three "traditional crowns of the Magi Kings" (Italy, Mexico and Russia).

Sugar bush
Concept of the day: to reproduce the traditional atmosphere of a "sugar bush" evening where everyone had the opportunity to express their talents, for the enjoyment of all!
Dance: Abdo and Ionna, dance teachers, interweave Canadian folk dance and traditional Lebanese dance.
Music: accordions, guitar, piano, percussions, choral singing and solos.
In the kitchen: under the direction of Myriam, Pastry Chef, a team prepares the dessert, almond dacquoises covered with apples and topped with a Bavarian cream.
Meanwhile, the youngest play at "treasure hunting".
The sharing of each one's talent contributed to enrich this typical sugar bush meal. The whole ends with the inevitable maple taffy on the snow!

Pinecones and Pumpkins
The word Halloween comes from "All Hallow's Eve" which means "Eve of All Saints Day". To celebrate the Feast of all Saints, we invited Ginette Légaré, artist-painter to make us live a colourful pumpkin decorating workshop, full of life, humor and art. Our goal, sowing joy and beauty to counteract the obvious trend during the night of Halloween where gloomy outlook creatures get our attention.
In a cozy lounge, every one could see on the decorated wall, pictures of people from all ages and cultures; they represent all the unknown saints. Everyone is invited to follow God's path, regardless of who we are. At the end of this immersive experience, we were invited to learn more about Saints Louis and Zélie Martin.
"There will come a time, with God's help, your hopes may be exceeded, but in the meantime, we are anguished despite ourselves… Finally, if the good Lord, as I believe, got his hands on this affair, He will be able to manage everything for the better. " (Zélie Martin - letter to her sister-in-law)

Coloratour
This hike followed by painting workshops took place a few days before Thanksgiving. This final date was selected in 1957 by the Canadian Parliament: "A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed". We went through the day with this genuine sense of gratitude.
On the way, in order to prepare the painting activity, hikers enjoyed picking up autumnal coloured leaves. The younger team, on their side, are brought out to the woods to meet St. Kateri Tekakwitha. In the afternoon, Ginette Légaré, artist-painter, leads a paint shop in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. With very simple techniques, the objective is to paint on a canvas the Thanksgiving colours!
At the end of the activity, we gathered around for a delicious Norman apple pie; meanwhile, we hear the younger ones singing a song about Kateri Tekakwitha.

FLOWERS AND BEES
This day gave the family an opportunity to discover the subtle distinctions between flowers in the Mas St-Jean-Baptiste fields. This abundance fuels our desire to give glory to God for his wonders and his flowers; a guaranteed treat for the bees of our beehives as well.
"Flowers and Bees" is a path with notice boards on flower's descriptions along the way. All course long, one had the opportunity to collect lupine and monarde seeds. Surrounded and stimulated by a setting of echinacea, we get acquainted with Hildegard of Bingen, an 11th century's mystic woman ahead of her time; through God's creation, she discovered in plants, beyond their beauty, their medicinal properties that we are rediscovering in our time.
The timing was perfect for a presentation on the various steps of honey production by honey bees. The participants even had the opportunity to look for the queen in an active hive. Thanks to Marc, honey beekeeper of Miel de Melbourne.
